Apple Tree Learning Center opened in Middletown in 1983. The center was acquired by Apple Tree Children's Centers in 1990, and was moved to our current facility at 800 East Street in 1995. In 1994 our Middletown center achieved accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children as recognition of the excellence of its early childhood programs, and has since been reaccredited by NAEYC. Apple Tree in Middletown is a great place for children!

Our center hours are 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., Monday-Friday. We are open year round, except in the case of certain holidays and teacher in-service training days. Parents are welcome at the center at any time without prior notice to management or teachers.

Our program is designed to gently stimulate each child to his full potential, to approach each developmental milestone with enthusiasm, persistence and joy. Our job is to make sure that each child has numerous successful experiences every day to give them a positive self concept and to ensure a lifelong love of learning.

Our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to foster children's independence and positive self image. The goal of our program is to provide each child entering kindergarten with developmentally appropriate experiences and activities that will facilitate their successful entry into the kindergarten environment.

We try to make our room a pleasant and enriching experience that will prepare each child for their entry into kindergarten. The room is divided into learning centers. Each center is designed for children to work as a small group. Our centers are the snack center, table activities, science, dramatic play, blocks and art. Socialization is an integral part of the learning centers.

Our curriculum is theme based. Each week a different theme is used and coincides with a book. The theme is carried throughout the activities in the room and the centers can also be changed or enhanced to match the theme. The curriculum offers activities in each of the learning centers so that children have science, math, language, fine and large motor and computer experiences that prepare them for future success in school. The activities are in addition to the every day options available. Children are encouraged to participate, but by no means are they required to take part.

The theme is usually discussed in group time, along with the lesson for the day. During group time we work on kindergarten readiness skills, such as knowing names and addresses and how to spell and write them, months of the year, and days of the week.
