Meet the Coaches



Steve Mckeever:

Has been coaching crew for nine years. Currently he is coaching the boys JV and Varsity teams.

Beth Shapiro:

Beth was a coxswain for the Middletown High Crew team. She continued to be a coxswain throughout her college career, then later came back to Middletown to become the head coach. She currently coaches the girls JV and Varsity teams.

Nancy Watson:

Nancy Watson comes into the Middletown High School rowing program as a first year coach, but with several years of rowing experience. She is the parent of two former MHS rowers and is a rower herself. She has been rowing since 1996 beginning with the Middletown Parks and Rec summer rowing program. She has also rowed competivley on a women's masters eight in The Head of the Connecticut, The Hartford Regatta, and at the Head of the Charles.

Wendy Sheil:

Wendy attended Woodrow Wilson High School. She joined the Middletown Crew Team, which was a combined effort between Middletown High School and Woodrow Wilson High School, as a freshman. She rowed in the girls varsity 8 all four years of high school. She was later recruited by and rowed for the varsity 8 of Universtiy of Pennsylvania in Philidelphia, PA. She returned to Middletown to assist in coaching the Middletown High School boys team. After a 15 year hiatus, she returned to rowing for the Middletown Club Crew as a master level competitor, competing in the Head of the Connecticut, The Riverfront Regatta, and the Head of the Charles. She now assists as a volunteer coach for the Wesleyan University men's crew team. She is also currently assisting with the boys and girls novice teams for Middletown High School.
